Lago d'Iseo - Lake of Iseo

The ambiance of the lake of Iseo has changed very little over the years. The mountainsides are covered with chestnut trees and vineyards. There are many picturesque historic towns and villages along the lakeside from which ferries, large and small, cross to and fro. In the middle of the lake lies idyllic Monte Isola, the largest lake island in Europe. On the island there are several fishing villages and many perfect spots for bathing and picnics to be found. All this makes the lake and its surroundings a favourite spot for the Italians.
Surroundings

The lake and its surroundings offer many recreational possibilities. The whole of the lake can be explored by boat. There are many fine restaurants where you can savour the Italian ‘cucina’. In the villages you can discover delightful old churches, rustic squares and rambling old farmhouses.
The mountains are suited to hikers and walkers of all ages. It is also possible to make daytrips to many famous Italian towns such as Milan, Brescia, Bergamo, Verona and even Venice.
